Grinding: Technical specifications

Holding the part:
The part is held by centring, generally between points at 60° or 90°, this guarantees absolute precision. It is possible to use mixed (chuck + point) or full (chuck + chuck) gripping. For cylinders with a diameter greater than 800 mm, we use centring by bronze bearings on "picks". For holding hollow bodies, we manufacture centring pieces for gripping between points. For holding small parts, we have the possibility of holding them in a magnetic chuck.

Precision:
Parts can be machines to a tolerance of around 10 µ, both dimensionally and geometrically. On small parts the precision decreases with greater size and weight, the limit being approximately 30 µ on the largest parts.

Hardness:
Different abrasive wheels make it possible to "work on" all types of materials, from rubber to ceramics. For very hard coatings, we use "diamond" wheels.

High-speed grinding:
Our HSG machine makes it possible, in particular on large parts but also on very hard parts, to reduce the grinding time by a factor of three or four (the maximum diameter for parts using this is 800 mm).

Profile:
Our machines are capable of providing a so-called "profile" grinding of your outside diameters: curved (concave or convex), conical, frustoconical etc.
